It is said that Kurasawa Puppet Kabuki began when its founder, Tsunejiro Kanno, became interested in the Mizuoshi puppet theater (Kitakami City) that he saw as a child, and in 1894, he began performing puppet theater using puppets and props that he made himself, speaking lines to the accompaniment of Gidayu-bushi music. The puppeteers speak lines to the accompaniment of Gidayu-bushi music, and the puppets act out the Kabuki stage.
