Ghibli is coming to Oosawa Onsen in Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture again this year!

Located on the grounds of the historic Oosawa Onsen inn is the Nanbu Clan Thatched-Roof Kikusuikan Old Gallery "Chigaya," which was renovated a few years ago.

Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki conceived the idea for the exhibition to support Osawa Onsen, a Oosawa Onsen he deeply loves.

Underneath a massive thatched roof approximately 40 meters high, photographs of Ghibli landscapes, seen through the eyes of Thai photographer Kanyada, will be on display.

In addition to exhibits of Totoro and the Catbus in the thatched-roof hall and throughout the building, this year there will be a special exhibition commemorating the 130th anniversary of Miyazawa Kenji birth.

If you are only visiting the Ghibli exhibition, please cross Takaaki Bridge and enter through the main entrance of Kikusui-kan.
Please note that the hot springs at Kikusuikan are not available for use.
If you are using the accommodation and hot spring facilities at Oosawa Onsen, please enter through the Oosawa Onsen Toujiyakan.
