Ishidoriya Festival

The Ishidoriya Festival is held every year from September 8th to 10th. It is a traditional event that has been handed down in the Yoshiji district of Ishidoriya Town. The festival includes the procession of the portable shrine of Kumano Shrine (on the 8th), the parade of floats and portable shrines (everyday), and performances of Kagura, Shishi Odori, and Sansa Odori. In addition, all the floats and portable shrines come together in the Ishidoriya Festival Parade (on the 10th).

The festival's highlight, the floats, are traditional large eight-carts, and the decorations are chosen to depict the 18 major Kabuki plays or famous scenes from history.
It is said to be highly valuable as a cultural asset, as it marks the southern limit of the Nanbu-ryu Furyu floats centered around Morioka.
