Tsuchizawa Festival

The Tsuchizawa Festival(the annual festival of Kabura Hachiman Shrine) began in the mid-Edo period and boasts a history of approximately 300 years.

In 1711, to celebrate the rebuilding of Kabura Hachiman Shrine, a portable shrine was carried through the streets, and this tradition has continued to this day.
The floats, which are the main attraction of the festival, have been made since the 1890s and are a spectacular sight as they parade through the Tsuchizawa Shopping Street to the accompaniment of Tsuchizawa Bayashi music.
