Miyazawa Kenji Dowa Mura / Kenji’s School(Village of Fairy Tales)

Miyazawa Kenji Dowa Mura / Kenji’s School(Village of Fairy Tales) is a fun learning facility where you can enjoy learning in the world of Kenji's fairy tales, where characters like Giovanni, Matasaburo, and Yamaneko could appear at any moment.
The Fairy Tale Village consists of the Galaxy Station, Galaxy Station Square, Fairy Path, Sky Square, Wildflower Garden, and the main attraction, Kenji's School. Kenji's School is divided into five zones: Fantastic Hall, Space, Sky, Earth, and Water.
The log cabin exhibition facility "Kenji's Classroom" is also full of things to see.

★A limited-time illumination event called "Fairy Tale Village Forest Illumination" is held every year from late July to late October. → Click here for event information. *The 2025 event has already ended.


[Limited Time Only] A free shuttle bus service will operate between the Miyazawa Kenji Memorial Museum, Miyazawa Kenji Dowa Mura / Kenji’s School(Village of Fairy Tales), and Miyazawa Kenji Ihatov Museum. This shuttle bus is convenient for getting between each facility.

Closed Days
December 28th - January 3rd *The facility may be temporarily closed for equipment maintenance, etc.
*Starting in April 2026, the museum will be closed every Monday (or the following weekday if Monday is a public holiday). Please note that during the Reiwa 8 fiscal year (April 2026 - March 2027), the museum may be open on Closed Day. Please check the museum calendar (PDF) attached below for details.
Admission fee
Kenji's School: Adults 350 yen, High school and university students 250 yen, Elementary and junior high school students 150 yen
There are also combined admission tickets available for the Miyazawa Kenji Memorial Museum, the Hanamaki City Museum, and the Hanamaki Nitobe Memorial Museum.
*Admission to Kenji's classroom within the Fairy Tale Village grounds is free.
