Hanamaki Castle Ruins
A sturdy castle blessed with a beautiful topography. It was originally the residence castle (Toriyazaki Castle) of the Hienuki clan, who ruled the area before the Nanbu clan, but after the Hienuki clan was annihilated in 1591 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Oshu Shioki, the Nanbu clan took possession of the area and it became Hanamaki Castle. The remains of the main citadel have been developed into a park, and the Nishi-Mikomon gate has been restored.
Remains of earthworks and moats remain around the park, giving a glimpse of the past.
★Hanamaki Castle's castle seal is on sale at the Hanamaki City Museum .
