Monument Commemorating Major Leaguers with ties to Hanamaki
There are several monuments commemorating the brilliant achievements of Kikuchi and Ohtani, both of whom graduated from Hanamaki Higashi High School, in the major leagues. They are located within the grounds of Hiijono Sports Park (behind the grounds of Hanamaki Higashi High School) and can be viewed freely.
■ Monument commemorating the selection of Kikuchi and Ohtani for the 2021 MLB All-Star Game (to be installed in April 2022)
This monument was presented to Hanamaki Onsenkyo Tourism Promotion Council to commemorate the simultaneous selection of baseball players Kikuchi and Ohtani, both graduates of the school, to play in the 2021 MLB AII-Star Game.
The venue is decorated with the autographs of the two players, a photo of the uniform of Hanamaki Higashi High School with the message "From Hanamaki to the World" written on it, and the handprints of both players. You can also compare your hand with the hands of the major leaguers!
■ Monument commemorating the achievement of double-digit wins in 2023 (to be installed in April 2024)
This is the second monument presented by the Hanamaki Onsenkyo Tourism Promotion Council to commemorate the two players' amazing achievements of becoming pitchers with double-digit or more wins in 2023, Kikuchi's total of 100 wins and 1,500 strikeouts in Japan and the United States, and Hanamaki Onsenkyo's AL MVP and home run title. The two players' autographs are on display!
■Otani 2023 Season MVP & Home Run King Memorial Monument (to be installed in January 2024)
*It is located in the pine forest on the third base side, a short distance from the existing monument.

① Head towards Hanamaki Higashi High School. (See "Access" below.)
②From the road between Hanamaki Higashi High School and Hiijono Sports Park No. 2 Parking, proceed to the road next to the high school. (※Vehicles are not permitted. Parking is at Hiijono Sports Park No. 2 Parking.)
③Following the yellow sign as a landmark, walk for about 3 minutes through Hiijono Sports Park and you will arrive behind the backstop at Hanamaki Higashi High School baseball stadium.
*Please refrain from entering the Hanamaki Higashi High School grounds.

[Notes on the tour]
・The monument itself is located within the grounds of Hiijono Sports Park, so anyone can visit it at any time. However, as the grounds are adjacent to Hanamaki Higashi High School, please be mindful of the surrounding area when visiting.
・There are public restrooms near the second Parking of Hiijono Sports Park. These are closed during the winter (December 1st to March 31st), so please use the restrooms at Hanamaki Gymnasium or Hanamaki Baseball Stadium .
- Please do not enter the Hanamaki Higashi High School grounds, enter or drive into prohibited areas, or park in no parking areas.
・Smoking is prohibited throughout the Hiijono Sports Park grounds.
In conjunction with the 14th Ihatov Hanamaki Half Marathon on April 26, 2026, traffic restrictions will be in place on the course roads from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on that day. During these restrictions, vehicle traffic and road crossing will be completely prohibited, so please take note if you are planning to stop by.
*This race will start and finish at Hiyojono Athletic Stadium (within Hiyojono Sports Park) and will use an officially certified course that turns around in the Osegawa area. There will be 36 categories of races, divided by gender and age group, including "Half Marathon," "10km," and "3km."

- Please use the No. 2 Parking at Hiijono Sports Park in front of Hanamaki Higashi High School when visiting. Large buses can also be parked. The monument is just a few minutes' walk from the Parking. [No reservation required]
*Please do not enter the high school premises, drive vehicles, or park on the premises.
*Please refrain from parking or using the facility in no-parking areas, such as on the ground light side. - Access
