Kabura Hachiman Shrine
Kabura Hachiman Shrine (Towa-cho, Hanamaki City, Iwate Prefecture) is a historic shrine that is said to have been founded around the Kohei era (1052-1063).
This was once the place where Minamoto no Yoshiie prayed for victory during the Battle of Zenkunen, and it is said to bring good fortune in victory and protection from evil.
The current main hall was rebuilt in 1711, and the one-bay, Nagare-zukuri style architecture is preserved as a local cultural asset. Since the Showa era, the main hall, portable shrine, and dedicated swords have also been designated as tangible cultural assets.
The annual Tsuchizawa Festival Festival features gorgeous floats and portable shrines, as well as traditional Kagura and deer dances, conveying the traditions and excitement of the region to the present day.
